I think it would be very useful to the police if the public knew the appearance of a violent suspect so that he could be more quickly identified and eventually apprehended, don't you? Why else do police departments put out descriptions of wanted suspects? If we have no idea what a suspect looks like, your stories are of no use to the public, except otherwise to titillate or horrify us. And if the latter is the case, then your rationale for printing these kinds of stories with no practical purpose beyond "readership" is merely to sell ad space and provide yourself with a secure job.

The other Tribune writer the negro Clarence Page says the same thing. This is a MOVEMENT.
